Administrative Services
The Administrative Services Division ensures the efficient operation of the health department by managing vital infrastructure, human resources, IT, and facilities. This team drives fiscal responsibility and organizational success through meticulous accounting, payroll, purchasing, and strategic grant administration.
Erie County Community Health Center & Erie Community Pharmacy
The Erie County Community Health Center (ECCHC) is a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and a premier sliding fee scale clinic near me that serves individuals from birth through their senior years. We provide seamless access to affordable primary medical care, dental, and behavioral health services across 9 permanent locations in Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties, alongside a Mobile Health Vehicle.
Our comprehensive network includes the 340B Erie Community Pharmacy, specialized senior care through Compass Point adult day services for dementia, and institutional nursing care for justice-involved individuals at the Erie County Jail and Juvenile Justice Center.
Public Health Nursing
Our Public Health Nurses deliver vital medical assessments, case management, and health education across various community settings, including multiple local school districts. They protect our region by mitigating disease spread, implementing up-to-date healthcare guidelines, and managing the Children with Medical Handicaps Program (CMH).
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
The Erie-Huron County WIC program is a USDA-funded federal assistance initiative providing nutritious foods, expert breastfeeding support, and nutrition education. Services are available at three convenient locations: the ECCHC Main Campus, the Norwalk Health Center, and the Vermilion School-Based Health Center.
Epidemiology and Emergency Preparedness
This office safeguards the community through robust disease surveillance, health tracking, and outbreak containment. Our team actively builds regional resilience by creating emergency response plans, training local partners, and securing critical medical resources for crisis situations.
The Division of Behavioral and Mental Health offers a comprehensive continuum of crisis stabilization, substance use recovery support, and professional mental health counseling. In addition to services at ECCHC and the Erie County Detoxification Center, we partner with Kaptur Treatment & Recovery Services, Becky’s House (female-only recovery housing), and two male-only recovery residences to provide collaborative, life-saving care.
Environmental Health & Lead Hazard Control
The Environmental Health Division protects our community from hazards in our food, water, and housing. Our team handles routine sanitary inspections, manages food permit requirements for restaurants, and licenses mobile vendors, tattoo studios, and public pools. We also operate the Regional Response Water Lab, testing biological and chemical samples alongside seasonal water quality tracking at more than 20 Erie County beaches.
Working hand-in-hand with environmental safety, the Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes utilizes federal, state, and local grants to repair deteriorated, older residential housing. We systematically eliminate life-safety hazards that trigger childhood lead poisoning, asthma, and structural risks.
Grants & Accreditation
The Division of Grants and Accreditation drives our agency’s long-term excellence through strategic planning, quality improvement, and community health assessments. This team secures the vital funding and national accreditation metrics necessary to elevate wellness and equity across Erie County.
